Star of the Month and Birthday Girl: Jean Harlow!


I'm really looking forward to this months TCM's "Star of the Month", Jean Harlow.  Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to view some of her movies and learn more about this very interesting and talented actress.

On TCM, March 8, 2011: The Red Headed Woman(1932). A film of the Pre-Code era, based on a novel by Katherine Brush, and with a screenplay by Anita Loos. It was directed by Jack Conway, and stars Jean Harlow as a woman who uses sex to advance her social position. During the course of the film, Harlow breaks up a marriage, has multiple affairs, has pre-marital sex countless times, and attempts murder. The film also stars Chester Morris.



ON TCM, March 8, 2011: Three Wise Girls(1932). Romantic drama film featuring Jean Harlow in her first starring role. A young small-town woman heads to New York City, where she and her two friends have romantic troubles.



ON TCM, March 8, 2011: Riffraff(1936). Starring Jean Harlow and Spencer Tracy. The movie was written by Frances Marion, Anita Loos, and H. W. Hannaford, and directed by J. Walter Ruben.

ON TCM, March 8, 2011: Suzy(1936). Starring Jean Harlow, Franchot Tone, and Cary Grant. The film was partially written by Dorothy Parker and directed by George Fitzmaurice. The theme song, "Did I Remember?", was sung by Sylvia Froos. Please click here to view Suzy movie review.
